Visiting Korcula

Korcula Island is well connected by Split and Dubrovnik and other parts of Croatia, you can get there by car from Orebic town on Peljesac peninsula and ferry goes there every hour. It is also possible to use direct ferry line to Korcula from Dubrovnik and Split, and there is also overnight ferry from city of Rijeka. From Zagreb there is a direct bus to Korcula, which takes 10 hours.

Vela Luka Coat of ArmsVela Luka is small town situated in a deep sheltered bay on the west side of the island of Korcula with population of approximately 4,500 inhabitants. It is quiet Mediterranean town with a beautiful and unspoiled landscape suitable for tourism.

The town focus is mainly on tourism, fishing and traditional agriculture the production of virgin olive oil.

Vela Luka is the youngest town on Korcula Island but many archeological findings witnesses the ancient life that existed here. The main sight to prove that is Vela Spila, cave situated above town and it is famous for its beauty and objects dating from the early prehistoric period.

The town is home of many talented artist and musicians and also place rich in culture. The town museum holds valuable archaeological collection, collection of ship models carved in wood and the gifted international collection of drawings, and sculptures.
 
Vela Luka also have rich gastronomic offer with number of quality restaurants offering local specialties and international cuisine, there is also several authentic inns with excellent traditional cuisine and good island wine. It has several hotels, and the medical centre for rheumatic rehabilitation.
