Dubrovnik also popular by name "the Pearl of the Adriatic", is situated in south of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea coast. Dubrovnik is very popular and known tourist destinations on the Mediterranean, the town is also centre of Dubrovnik - Neretva County.

Old town of Dubrovnik has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century and throughout history the prosperity of the town of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. It is important to mention that Dubrovnik was during the Middle Ages Republic; actually it was the only Adriatic city state to rival Venice. As republic Dubrovnik was home to many notable people and the city was in wealth with skilled diplomacy and leadership which achieved remarkable development of the town and surroundings, in particular during the 15th and 16th centuries.
The patron saint of the city is Sveti Vlaho, Saint Blaise; the city's cathedral is named after Sveti Vlaho whose statues can be seen around the old town. February 3 is the feast of Saint Blaise and the city of Dubrovnik celebrates the holiday with Mass, festivities and parades.

The important monuments you can find on every corner of Dubrovnik Old town, surrounded by impressive city walls which are 2 kilometers long around the town. The walls are 6 meters wide on landward side and thinner on the seaward side, there are also towers which where use for protection of this great town.
Between number of historic monuments and buildings of Dubrovnik Old town is worthy to mention the third oldest European pharmacy situated in Franciscan Monastery complex which dates back to 1317 and still open today.
Other notable monuments are: Dominican Monastery with resembles a fortress on the outside and inside contains an art museum with impressive library and a Gothic-Romanesque church; the Renaissance Sponza Palace from the 16th century which is today house of the National Archives; the Gothic-Renaissance Rectors Palace and The St Saviour Church from the Renaissance period. There is also The Stradun, Dubrovnik's main street, a heart of the old city, bustles with tourists, cafes, bars, shops and restaurants.
In addition worthy to visit is the oldest arboretum in the world, dating back to 1492, the Arboretum Trsteno.
Dubrovnik suffered strong earthquake in 1667 but number of old buildings survived and standing proud in this beautiful old town.
Dubrovnik is surrounded by numerous islands which offer different touristic activities; notable is Lokrum Island with his botanical garden, monastery, fortress and naturist beach.
